A species of willow native to northwestern North America from Alaska to northern California to Montana. It is found on coastal sand dunes. ![]() Sitka Willow shrub It can take the form of either a bushy shrub or an erect tree up 26 ft tall. ![]() Sitka Willow catkins On Savary it is found along the southwest cliffs. The Thurber Report recommends its use for erosion control on crests and slopes. ![]() The undersides of Sitka Willow leaves are covered with velvety, white hair. Notes 1.
