Red Huckleberry
(Aka Vaccinium parvifolium)

The name huckleberry is a North American variation of the English dialectal name hurtleberry for the bilberry.

The most common type of huckleberry found on Savary is the Vaccinium parvifolium, red huckleberry.

The plant can grow as high as 13 feet. Because it likes the decaying wood of rotting logs, it is often found sprouting from nurse logs, sometimes growing in conjunction with the Evergreen Huckleberry.
