![]() Large-headed sedge on the Meadow (Aka Carex macrocephala | big-headed sedge) A perennial sedge plant with a dark spiky head. In North America it only exists on the Pacific Coast, where it is found on beaches and sand dunes. The above picture was taken at the fore-dunes on the Meadow. In BC, this species is found along the coast from Vancouver to Haida Gwaii. For example, it stands out in beach/dune habitats, such as Savary, and can usually be found with other beach/dune specialists such as beach pea. ![]() The dark spiky head Notes 1.
