![]() Source: SILTS Summer 2006 newsletter Savary has no permanent streams, but as shown in the map above there are several springs on the west side of the island. They are: * Indian Springs, * the Sutherland Road North Spring, * the Meadow Spring, and * the Neilson Spring. Notes 1. According to Traditional Place Names of the TLa'amin Nation, the traditional TLa'amin place name for Indian Springs is qayɛ qʷən (pronounced: Kay qwun), which means "fresh water spring." 2. There was a midden at Indian Springs. In the 1970s shells from it were used to top-dress the roads at Savary Shores. (Source: Kennedy, p 159) |
