European Searocket in flower

(aka cakile maritima)

This plant was introduced from Eurasia, so it is actually an invasive species. It is an edible annual plant that grows in clumps or mounds in the sand on Savary's beaches and bluffs.

Notes
1. Not to be confused with American Searocket (cakile edentula)

2. According to the website Eat the Weeds: You can eat the "leaves, stems, flower buds and immature seed pods raw. They can be cooked but cooking makes them very bitter. However, they are rich in Vitamin C."
