Government Sessional Papers and a contemporary diary indicate that the wharf was built during 1912 and it was in use by 1913 if not earlier.

It is a bit of a quibble, however, I think 'wharf' might be a preferred
term (at least for old-fashioned people). I appreciate that language
and meanings are evolving; however, the traditional definition of a 'dock'
is, I believe, the water that the vessel can occupy beside the
structure- wharf, pier or whatever

Everyone I know calls it "the dock", but I have heard people refer to it as "the wharf", so let's use both. The island is evolving both physically and linguistically. Cheers
