 According to Traditional Place Names of the TLa'amin Nation, the traditional place name for Beacon point is the Sechelt term χɛχ yalɛs (XeX yales), which means "small rock". Notes 1. "The land between Whalebone and Beacon Points constitutes the best and most complete Canadian example of the geography of coastal dune ecosystems and dune associated plant successions when included with the inland dune area." (Source: Dunster, 2000) 2. The rare and endangered Contorted-Pod Evening Primrose was found on Beacon Point in the early 2000s. 3. The Spirit Tree is near Beacon Point. |
